2322 South Adams is on the northeast corner of South Adams and Apple. The building currently at this location, a nearly half-block long, two-story dark brick structure with basement, does not appear to be the same building shown on the 1902 Sanborn Fire Insurance Atlas. Sanborn shows a narrow structure about half the length, with an incline along the north side of the building and several out buildings in the rear.

 

As the lot was vacant in 1913 and the home of the Belmont Hotel in 1914, the building may have been built as the Belmont. The current building has “ghost writing” on the north face which clearly reads “Hotel” with “South Side” possibly on the left.
