Most city directories contain many typographical errors, which have been copied below as printed.

 

1801-1803 South Adams is on the southwest corner of South Adams and Edmund Street. In the 1902 Sanborn Fire Insurance Atlas, 1801-1803 are an unnumbered lot at the corner with a marked lot of 1805 attached to the south. In the 1926 and 1935 PCD, 1801 is described as having a second floor. The current Google maps view shows a one-story brown building at the corner, marked 1801, with a second door further to the south, marked 1803, and a garage door further to the south marked 1805. The property now appears to be a tavern/nightclub called La Copacabana.

 

Until 1898, 1801 South Adams appears to have been a residential dwelling. From 1899 to 1924, the addresses of 1801 and 1803 are not listed and 1805 is listed sporadically. In 1925, a new building appears at 1801 and 1803, with two floors. The current building, at 1801 and 1803, has a newer brick facade and an awning that extends to 1805, which has a concrete block facade. The roof of the building appears to be in bad shape. The current building is either the structure built around 1925, with major modifications, including removing the second floor, or is a newer building.
